Frequently Asked Questions and Support for Families

1

What support and assessments do you provide?

Child First Psychology Clinic offers Multidisciplinary Autism Assessments, ADHD assessments, and standalone Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) assessments for children and adolescents as well as Cognitive Testing where appropirate. Our autism and ADHD assessments are psychologist‑led, use gold‑standard diagnostic tools, and are completed in line with current Irish best‑practice and HSE assessment standards.

2

How do we start the assessment process?

To begin, simply complete the Contact Us form on our website. Our team will get in touch to discuss your child’s needs, explain the assessment process, and outline the next steps.

3

Are your reports accepted by schools?

Our reports are written using recognised diagnostic frameworks and HSE‑aligned standards and are commonly used to support engagement with schools, the HSE, and the Department of Education, including educational planning and support applications. As requirements can vary depending on the service or context, we are always happy to talk this through with families.

4

Is there anything we should prepare?

If available, any previous reports, referral letters, school reports, or earlier assessments can be helpful. These are not essential, and families will be guided clearly on what information is useful throughout the process.

5

What happens if we need to reschedule?

Due to high demand for appointments, we kindly request a minimum of 3 days’ notice for cancellations or changes. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a cancellation fee, as the appointment time cannot always be reallocated.

6

Can health insurance help with the cost?

Some health insurance policies offer partial reimbursement for psychological or therapy assessments. Cover varies by provider and policy, so families should check directly with their insurer. We can provide documentation if required.
